Urban design and related services include Downtown/CBD redevelopment planning, Neighborhood Revitalization and Streetscape Improvements. As a specialized approach to planning, it emphasizes the physical, functional and visual aspects of development over an extended area or corridor. Urban Design techniques apply to historic preservation, contextual infill, redevelopment and urban core areas as well as new suburban subdivisions and new town planning. It can be implemented at any scale ranging from city-wide General Plans and Zoning Districts, to Design Guidelines for specific types of development projects.
