After being awarded a Prop. 13 grant, Streamline Planning developed a GIS for the City of Trinidad, California. The GIS serves as a planning information management system and includes parcels, roads, ownership and 25+ other layers. The primary focus of the initial effort was to develop a Septic System Maintenance Program. This system will allow the City to avoid building an expensive wastewater treatment plan. The project served as a demonstration project for the soon-to-be implemented AB 885 (state-mandated water quality improvements and kelp bed protection).

As part of the City's septic maintenance program, Streamline Planning has collected historic permit data from the Humboldt County Environmental Health Department. This intelligent map pulls data from a database to allow planners to assess water quality risks and identify areas for remedial action. This septic program map indicates the current operating permit status and is used to notify property owners on a cyclical basis that their septic system permit is coming up for renewal.
